Hi! I'm Julie

I make beach bags that help make your life out and about by the water easier and more enjoyable.

After years struggling to find a stylish beach bag fit for purpose, I decided to make my own.

Frustrated by flimsy, soggy, sand magnets that played 'hide and seek' with my items, looked grubby after a few outings and took an age to dry, I incorporated everything on my wish list!

Now, I no longer have to compromise or replace my beach bag every year...and neither do you.

My Story

A self confessed beach addict

I've owned every kind of beach bag going: canvas, jute, nylon, string, straw, you name it!

But the best beach bag I ever had (Old Faithful) was made from oilcloth, which meant it was waterproof and wipe clean on the outside...it was almost perfect.

It accompanied me around the world for a decade, outliving its predecessors by years and in 2015 after an unsuccessful search to replace it, I decided to make my own.

I was taught to sew by my Mum

on her vintage Singer machine when I was young.

Determined to make my new bag perfect, out went the cotton lining and in came waterproof, then interlining was added to provide stability and protection for my items.

Next, specifically sized, perfectly placed interior pockets for securing valuables and ensuring essentials, such as shades and sun cream, were within easy reach.

As soon as it was finished and road tested on holiday, I couldn’t wait to share it!

My Etsy store opened in 2016 and in 2019 I launched my website.

Commissions include bags for some of the world's most luxurious superyachts. (see below)

How the bags are made
(
watch video below!)

From start to finish every aspect of the production process is done by me, from my home here in beautiful Devon. Pattern drafting, fabric cutting, sewing, hammering rivets, photography, packaging and posting. Fuelled by coffee, music and the occasional piece of chocolate. (we know I mean bar)

What is oilcloth?

A thick woven cotton fabric that has been treated on one side to give it a waterproof coating in either a gloss or matt finish - making it deal for beach bags!

Construction

The bags are constructed in three layers. Soft compressed fleece is sandwiched between the exterior oilcloth and waterproof lining providing stability and a degree of protection for your items

Quality materials

High quality oilcloth, waterproof lining fabrics and strong hardware combine to produce beautiful bags that are comfortable to carry and will last long beyond your next holiday.

Personal craftsmanship

Handmade with meticulous attention to detail, pride and a passion for quality.
